How Long Do Invisible Braces Take?
If you’re an adult or older teenager with mild to moderate misalignment issues, you can achieve a straighter smile without the traditional metal wires and brackets. Invisible braces, which are also called clear aligners, use a series of medical-grade plastic trays to gradually move your teeth into alignment.
The most famous invisible braces brand is Invisalign, but there are other brands that work just as well. The exact treatment time will depend on the complexity of your case and how closely you follow your orthodontist’s instructions.
How Long Do Invisible Braces Take?
Invisible braces — or clear aligners — are a discreet and effective alternative to traditional orthodontic treatments. They work by using a series of clear, custom-made, BPA-free plastic trays to gradually move your teeth into position. Each new set of trays is designed based on a digital scan of your teeth, and you’ll switch to the next one in the series every two weeks.
The trays are removable for eating and brushing, promoting better oral hygiene during treatment. Invisalign patients can complete their treatment in about six to 18 months, depending on the complexity of their cases.
Traditional metal braces, on the other hand, may be recommended if you have more severe dental alignment issues. These orthodontic treatments rely on brackets and wires to create the necessary pressure for moving your teeth into alignment, but they can be less comfortable than invisible braces. Moreover, they may be more visible on your teeth and require you to wear them for longer periods of time.
